Montgomery County Law Enforcement Swear in Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel as Honorary Law Enforcement Officer
Today, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office had the pleasure of hosting 10-year-old Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel and his family for a special ceremony where DJ was sworn in as an honorary Law Enforcement Officer.
DJ’s father, Theodis Daniel, explained his son’s admiration for law enforcement began after experiencing acts of kindness from police officers during Hurricane Harvey. DJ, who is battling terminal brain and spine cancer, told his dad he had a goal - to be sworn in by 100 law enforcement agencies!
Sheriff Rand Henderson and the 23 other Montgomery County Law Enforcement leaders administered the Oath of Office to DJ. Judge Mark Keough also issued a proclamation honoring DJ’s determination, compassion, and bravery in his fight against cancer.
DJ received his very own MCSO badge and identification while each Law Enforcement agency honored him by presenting him with their own distinctive memorabilia.
We are beyond excited to announce DJ has surpassed his goal of being sworn into 100 agencies with today’s moving service! DJ was incredibly excited and moved, yet unbeknownst to him, he has left a far greater impact on us, and we can’t thank him and his family enough for this incredible experience! Our thoughts and prayers are with you, DJ.
This would not have been possible without our law enforcement partners.
