Special Response Group

Special Response Group

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Group is made up of a small number of officers who volunteer as part of the riot squad. To join the Special Response Group, each officer must take a forty hour school that teaches formations, chemical munitions and disaster preparedness to contain and disperse protests, demonstrations, rallies, and mass gatherings. The SRG is broken down into groups called squads that handle response, arrests, chemical munitions, and processing. A field force is created when multiple squads unite. The SRG must be prepared for any situation with the goal of a peaceful ending.
