The School Resource Officer (SRO) is a certified law enforcement deputy permanently assigned full-time to a school within the Willis Independent School District. The SRO program is a proactive initiative based on prevention, education, and intervention where specially trained and experienced Deputy Sheriffs are assigned to a campus to fulfill that purpose. The SRO Deputy supports and facilitates the educational process within the Willis Independent School District by providing a safe and secure environment through building and establishing meaningful relationships with students and staff and proactively interacting with the school community to ensure the enforcement of state laws, preservation of public order, protection of life and the prevention, detection, or investigation of crime.
The SRO Deputy will patrol the property to protect students, staff, and visitors from physical harm and prevent loss of district property from criminal activity. The deputy will work effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and community agencies to support the educational system.
