MCTXSheriff Arrests Serial Burglar

On December 17, 2023, Demetrius Murphy was taken into custody and booked into the Montgomery County Jail for Burglary of a Building. Murphy was wanted in connection with at least three burglaries of local businesses in the I-45 and Rayford Sawdust area.

Throughout the course of their investigation, Detectives with the District 2 East Precinct were able to identify suspect Demetrius Murphy, and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. Detectives and deputies alerted local businesses of Murphy’s wanted status. On December 17, 2023, a store employee in the area recognized Murphy inside the establishment and called law enforcement. Deputies were able to apprehend Murphy near the business, where he was taken into custody without incident.

This case highlights the teamwork between our deputies and the local community to keep Montgomery County a safe place to live, work, and play. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office would like to thank our community partners for their diligence and bravery as they helped bring this criminal off our streets.
