***UPDATE MCTXSheriff Arrests Target Kidnapping Suspect***
On August 12, 2023, at approximately 6:30pm an MCTXSheriff K9 unit located Jose Luis Contreras at a restaurant on I-45 in Conroe, where he was arrested and taken into custody. Contreras will be transported to the Montgomery County Jail where he will be charged with Attempted Kidnapping.
A special thanks to the incredible efforts of the dedicated detectives, our SWAT team, and intelligence analysts with our real-time crime center, who all worked tirelessly on this case.

***UPDATE MCTXSheriff Identifies Target Kidnapping Suspect***
Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit, working alongside the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, have identified and secured an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Jose Luis Contreras of Magnolia in connection with the attempted kidnapping at the FM 2978 Target earlier this week. Contreras is charged with Attempted Kidnapping which is a Felony. Teams have worked all weekend in an attempt to locate Contreras, but are unable to find him at this time.
If you see Jose Luis Contreras, do not approach him, call 911 immediately as he is considered dangerous. If you know the whereabouts of Contreras or have information that may lead to his arrest, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-760-5800 option 3 and refer to case # 23A233785. MCTXSheriff Attempts to Identify Kidnapping Suspect
On August 9, 2023, at approximately 4:30 pm, the below-pictured male followed an 18-year-old female outside the Target store located at 32858 FM 2978, Magnolia, Texas. As the victim was getting into her vehicle, the suspect grabbed her from behind and pulled her toward his vehicle. The victim was able to escape and the suspect fled the scene in a gray 4-door passenger car that is pictured below.
