Citizens Academy

Citizen's Academy

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office began conducting a Citizen’s Academy in 1997, and has continued this course of study on an annual basis. Students are selected from applicants who reside in or are employed in Montgomery County and meet the entry requirements. The goal of the Citizen’s Academy is to foster a relationship between the Sheriff’s Office and the community.

By providing information to the community, and developing an understanding on how their Sheriff’s Office operates, it develops a better working relationship for all. It will also provide opportunities for ongoing communication between the members of the community and the Sheriff’s Office. This partnership is the most practical, efficient, and powerful tool in the fight against crime.

The Citizen’s Academy is conducted at the Clint Peoples Training Academy, which is located in the Criminal Justice Center at #1 Criminal Justice Drive, Conroe, Texas. Class size is limited to approximately thirty five students and the course of study is spread over fifteen weeks, with one three hour class each week. The class nights are Thursdays from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm and also one Saturday.

Instructors include members of the Sheriff’s Office from divisions such as Administrative staff, Patrol, Special Investigations Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Departmental Integrity Unit, Academy, Communications, and Crime Scene Investigations.

There are two classes held each year. The class 2016.1 starts in February and lasts until June.  The class 2016.2 starts in August and lasts until November.

Classes will be held at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Training Academy, 112 Academy Dr., Conroe, TX 77301. Click here for a map.
