MCTXSheriff Investigates Shooting after Attempted Robbery

On Saturday, March 26, 2022, at about 8:30 PM the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting an attempted robbery. Upon Deputies' arrival, they were advised a Hispanic male attempted to rob two male victims in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 2900 block of Rayford Road, Spring, Texas.

Initial reports indicate the robbery victim had listed his vehicle for sale on an online site and met with the suspect for a test drive and possible sale. The victims advised after the test drive, the suspect drove the vehicle, with the vehicle owner and the owner’s friend inside, behind the store where the suspect brandished a gun and attempted to steal the vehicle. During the incident, the suspect pointed the gun at both of the victims at which time the friend of the vehicle owner shot at the suspect multiple times. The suspect fled the area on foot, and his condition is unknown at this time. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male who is about 5’11” tall, slender build, wearing a white shirt and jeans.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Homicide/Violent Crimes Detectives are investigating this shooting, and the investigation is very preliminary at this point. The robbery victim who shot the suspect is not currently charged with any crime, and the shooting will be referred to the Grand Jury as is standard procedure for any shooting.
