MCTXSheriff Investigates Officer Involved Shooting

Shortly before midnight on November 15, 2021, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 10700 block of Stidham Road in Conroe, in reference to a domestic disturbance. Initial reports indicated that a male, identified as 45 year old Brian Sander, was threatening to kill his wife and their livestock. It was also reported that he was in possession of several firearms, and was threatening to kill any officers who responded. When the Deputies arrived on scene, they found Mr. Sander standing near a vehicle holding a shotgun. As Deputies issued commands to Mr. Sander, he abruptly turned on the Deputies, pointing the shotgun in their direction. The Deputies then fired multiple rounds at Mr. Sander, striking him several times. The Deputies immediately rendered first aid, and summoned EMS personnel to the scene. Mr. Sander was transported to a local area hospital, where he is in stable condition, and is expected to survive.

Mr. Sander is currently facing charges of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, and may have additional charges at the conclusion of the investigation. This incident is still under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers.
