UPDATE: MCTXSheriff Happy to Report the 3 Missing Children Have Been Found

On Friday, October 1, 2021, at about 7:00 AM, multiple First Responder agencies and the Montgomery County Search and Rescue team entered the Sam Houston National Forest to continue search efforts to locate the children. During this exhaustive search, the children were located by a volunteer about 1 mile from where they entered the forest. The children were checked by Montgomery County EMS personnel who confirmed they were not injured and were reunited with their family. After a brief interview with the children, it was learned the children diverted from the trail to play by a dry creek, causing them to become confused with their directions. The children also said they were taught by their parents if they’re lost, they should remain together, and wait for an adult to find them.

The investigation of the incident is no longer active and is considered closed.

It is an understatement to say we are overjoyed with the outcome of this incident. We want to thank the many First Responders and civilian volunteers for their tireless search efforts that led to the safe recovery of the children. We would also like to thank the community for their offers of assistance, overwhelming support, and prayers to bring the children home safely.

MCTXSheriff Searching for 3 Missing Children

On Thursday, September 30, 2021, at about 7:55 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a lost person in the area of 20800 Julie Lane, Montgomery, TX. The caller advised 3 children, two, 6-years of age, and one, 7-years of age were missing and believed to be lost in the Sam Houston National Forest, which surrounds the Flamingo Lake Subdivision. When Deputies arrived they learned the 3 children took a commonly used trail that connects the residences of the children. The trail is used by the neighborhood so the kids stay off the main road.

Law enforcement agencies from several jurisdictions along with Fire Department personnel arrived and began an extensive search for the missing children. Montgomery County Search and Rescue was also called in to assist in the search along with helicopters, drones, and K9 tracking dogs.

Personnel will remain on location and continue the search through the night and into the morning hours. Please follow our social media for more information or updates as they become available.

The three missing children are two males (6 and 7 years old) and one female (6 years old). One of the missing males was wearing blue shorts and a light blue shirt and the other male was wearing khaki shorts and a light-colored shirt. The 6-year-old female was wearing a purple tank top with a mermaid logo.

We have received numerous messages and phone calls asking to help with the search or if anything is needed. As of right now, trained search and rescue personnel are on location and no additional resources or personnel are needed. We do ask that you keep the children, the family of the missing children, and the search and rescue personnel in your prayers through this difficult time.
