UPDATE: MCTXSheriff Investigates Fatal Shooting

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at about 11:00 AM, Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes and SWAT Units executed a search warrant at a residence in the 26000 block of Knights Tower Drive in Kingwood, Texas, in reference to the shooting of the 14-year-old victim on Monday night.

As a result of the evidence obtained, Homicide and Violent Crimes Detectives arrested 17-year-old Bryan Smith, Jr. for Capital Murder of the 14-year-old male.

Detectives are still processing through evidence and conducting interviews; therefore, there is potential for further arrests related to the homicide. The motive of the shooting is still under investigation; however, all persons involved knew each other and this does not appear to be a random act of violence. We have no information that this is gang-related or related to the Porter High School incident on Saturday night.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-760-5800 or contact Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 800-392-STOP (7867) and refer to case #21A293752.
