MCTXSheriff Arrest Bank Jugging Suspects

On January 13, 2021, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and Montgomery County Pct.3 Constables Office were conducting an investigation on two individuals involved in “bank jugging”.

Bank Jugging is when a suspect or suspect(s) observe bank customers entering and exiting banks. The suspect(s) then follow the customers they believe are in possession of large amounts of cash and look for an opportunity to burglarize their vehicles or rob them directly. Law enforcement surveilled the two suspects as they appeared to be following a citizen from a Bank of America in the Woodlands. Law enforcement, followed the suspects to the CVS at the intersection of FM 1488 and Kuykendahl, where the suspects were observed burglarizing the victim’s vehicle. Law enforcement attempted to arrest the suspects who fled on foot. After a short foot chase, both suspects were apprehended. The suspects were identified as (Left) Ja Michael Cruse, a 27-year-old male, and (Right) Khoury Thomas, a 29-year-old male. The suspects were booked into jail for Burglary of Vehicle and Evading. The investigation is on-going and more charges are possible.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to remind our citizens to make efforts to conceal your business transactions, specifically, hide the bank bags when coming and going from banks to make it harder for criminals to identify you as potential victims.
