MCTXSheriff Investigating Aggravated Assault at New Caney Bank

On November 24, 2020 at about 2:50 pm, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Wells Fargo located at 22420 Community Drive in New Caney, Texas in regard to a possible robbery. During the investigation, it was learned a white male, later identified as 35 year old, Ahmed Raheem, entered the bank earlier in the day to close his account but was advised he must make an appointment to do so. Raheem left the bank after withdrawing all of the money from his account, but returned with a knife, grabbed one of the employees and made numerous threats toward the employee. A customer within the bank noticed what was occurring and was able to intervene and subdue Raheem. An off-duty Montgomery County Precinct 2 Deputy Constable working at the bank became aware of the situation and was able to detain Raheem. Raheem was injured during the incident and was transported to a local hospital. Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide/ Violent Crimes Unit are currently investigating further.

No robbery occurred at the bank and the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon is pending at this time.
