MCTXSheriff Ends Standoff Peacefully, Suspect Arrested

On June 5, 2019, at about 10:20 pm, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 600 block of Bellingrath Park, Conroe, TX in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, Deputies learned that the suspect, Daniel Subach a 72-year-old white male had gotten into an altercation with his wife at their residence. The argument escalated when Subach retrieved a rifle type firearm from inside the residence and pointed it at the victim and made several threats. The victim left the residence with her 15-year-old son and called law enforcement.

Deputies arrived at the residence and attempted to establish communications with  but were unsuccessful in negotiating his surrender. Due to the nature of the offense and the threats made by Subach, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were dispatched to the residence to assist.

CNT established communications with Subach who still refused to surrender. At that time, CNT and SWAT deployed numerous safety and tactical procedures in an attempt to gain voluntary compliance from Subach. As a result of CNT and SWAT efforts, Subach surrendered to law enforcement at about 4:00 am and was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Jail. Subach’s bond was set at $100,000.

Sheriff Rand Henderson states, “I am very proud of the men and women of our SWAT and CNT Units. They answer the call and deal with some of the most difficult and dangerous situations, as was seen during this incident. They displayed professionalism and successfully diffused a volatile situation peacefully. Great work!
