MCTXSheriff Happy to Welcome Willis ISD School Resource Officer Program

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce we have partnered with the Willis Independent School District to take over the staffing of nine positions for School Resource Officers. Our Deputies will serve as the dedicated units for the safety and security for the Willis school district.

On April 11th, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to approve this contract between Willis ISD and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. No new funding was required for this endeavor as the nine positions were already budgeted and assigned to the Precinct 1 Constables Office and will be transferred to the Sheriff’s Office effective April 15, 2023.

These nine deputies come with decades of experience in school policing and are a welcome addition to our team at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Students will continue to see the same familiar faces in the hallway, just wearing different uniforms.

Sheriff Henderson said, “I was honored when the Willis ISD approached me about taking on this new challenge. As a parent of school-age children and the husband of a teacher, school safety and security is very near and dear to my heart. I am excited to add these nine School Resource Officers to my team and eager to partner with Willis ISD as we keep our kids safe.”
