Recruiting Process


Phase I

  • Applicant creates an account and completes an application for a posted position.
Phase II

  • Qualified applicants will be emailed to schedule Pre-Employment Written Testing for the position being sought.
  • Applicant completes Supplemental Questionnaire following test completion.
Phase III

  • Qualified Detention Officers and Deputy Sheriff applicants will be emailed to schedule for Physical Agility Testing for the position being sought.
  • Qualifying Telecommunicator applicants will be emailed to schedule for Critical Testing
  • Other Clerical applicants will go directly to Phase IV
Phase IV

  • Personal History Book Issued, completed by Applicant, and returned with supporting documentation
Phase V

  • Recruiting personnel conducts a background investigation.
Phase VI

  • Polygraph. (Detention Officer and Deputy Sheriff applicants)
Phase VII

  • Final approval by the Sheriff and conditional offer of employment extended to the applicant.
  • Conditional Offer of Employment based on the following:
    • Drug Screening / Physical Examination / Psychological Evaluation / County Physical Agility / Hearing Screening
    • Testing will vary depending on requirements listed in the specific job posting.
