Captain Mac McKelvy

Captain Mac McKelvy oversees the Executive Division and has over 35 years as a Texas Law Enforcement Veteran. He is a Graduate of the LEMIT Leadership Command College and began his career as a dispatcher and reserve police officer at the Spring Valley Police Department in 1981. He moved to the Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 4 in 1984 and worked Communications, Patrol, and High Tech Crimes. He reached the rank of Captain and was responsible for managing Communications, Records, Property and Evidence, High Tech Crimes, TLETS Message Center Unit, and Special Technology Projects. He joined the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in 2015, where his responsibilities included Executive Management of the following areas of operation: the Sheriff’s Academy and Firearms Complex, implementation of the Real Time Crime Center at Transtar, the High Tech Crime Unit, Property and Evidence, AFIS Operations, the Extra Employment Unit, and the Alarm Detail. He retired at the rank of Major in December of 2016.

In 2017 he joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as the Sergeant over the Gang Intelligence Unit and oversaw the implementation of the new MCSO Real Time Crime Center and was promoted to the rank of captain in 2019.
