Captain Jeremiah Richards
Captain Jeremiah Richards began his law enforcement career in 2001, when he was hired as a detention officer. He attended the police academy at the University of Houston – Downtown in 2003 and was subsequently promoted to deputy. Captain Richards promoted through the ranks serving as corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, and on to Captain on August 19, 2023. As Captain, he serves as the Assistant Jail Administrator. He is a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy Class #13 and earned the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy Award after completing supervisor, command, and executive-level law enforcement courses. Captain Richards holds Master Jailer and Master Peace Officer Certificates through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and has passed the TCOLE Jail Administrator examination.

Captain Richards has served his entire career in the Jail Division and is devoted to advancing the field of corrections in Montgomery County and throughout Texas. He is involved with implementing programs in the Jail to reduce recidivism and help those incarcerated be productive members of society upon their release.
