Captain James Hook has worked in a Law Enforcement capacity for over 20 years. His policing career started in 1998 with a large city agency. In May of 2008, he started with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. During his career, he has been assigned to patrol, SWAT, the Training Academy, and the Homeland Security Division.

He currently serves as Captain of the Homeland Security Division. The units he leads include SWAT, K-9, Gang, Joint Terrorism Task Force, Crisis Negotiations Team, Special Response Group, Firearms training, UAS team, and Court House Security. Captain Hook sits on several committees with the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), Securing the Cities (STC), and CISD School Safety and Security Committee. 

He is a graduate of the Leadership Command College (Class #88) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University.
