Captain Kenneth Dunlap

Kenneth (Kenny) Dunlap held the rank of captain over the Patrol West Division. This division is comprised of two patrol districts, also called precincts. District 4 – Magnolia and District 5 – Montgomery areas, The Auto Theft Task Force, Livestock Unit and Motors Traffic Unit.

Captain Dunlap was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County with over 38 years of experience as a Texas peace officer serving the citizens of Montgomery County. He attended Sam Houston State University on scholarship majoring in Agribusiness and joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in October of 1982 after completing the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Basic Peace Office Academy, Class #234.

Throughout his career, Captain Dunlap held positions of increasing responsibility, including Jail Deputy, Bailiff, Patrol Deputy, Traffic Deputy, Burglary and Theft Detective, Burglary and Theft Sergeant, Major Crimes Detective, Internal Affairs Sergeant, Internal Affairs Lieutenant, and Patrol Division Lieutenant. Prior to being promoted to Captain, he commanded the District 4 Magnolia precinct.

Captain Dunlap was a graduate of the 211th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and held a Master Peace Officer, Master Jailer and Law Enforcement Instructor License with the State of Texas.

Captain Dunlap will forever be in the hearts of many Sheriff's Office employees, his children, and his wife.
