CAPTAIN DAN NORRIS

Captain Dan Norris was born and raised in the Houston, Texas area and came to work for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in 1986. 

He is an accomplished veteran Texas peace officer with over 32 years of experience with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility; including patrol, investigations, internal affairs and administration.  He moved his way through the ranks of the Sheriff's  Office holding positions of Patrol Deputy, Burglary & Theft Detective, Major Crimes Detective, IAD Sergeant, Detective Lieutenant, Administrative Lieutenant, and Internal Affairs Lieutenant.

These experiences include the implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs, budget development and preparation, training development, public information responsibilities, crisis negotiator, and department policy review and development.  

Dan Norris is an adjunct professor of Criminal Justice at his alma mater Sam Houston State University. Dan is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Session #207) and the Leadership Command College (Class #28).  He holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University.  He holds a Master Peace Officer Certification and Law Enforcement Instructor License.
