Juvenile Court Waives Jurisdiction for a 16yr Old

On April 5, 2017, Montgomery County Court at Law#1 Judge Dennis Watson heard the certification as an adult case against a juvenile who was charged in the aggravated robbery case that occurred on December 10, 2016, at the 24200 block of Sorters Road, Porter, Texas. As a result of the testimony provided in this hearing, County Court Judge Dennis Watson waived jurisdiction in juvenile court and certified Jujuan Burks Jr. 16 year old to stand trial as an adult in District Court.

On Saturday, December 10, 2016, at approximately 6:50 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division was dispatched to a robbery that had occurred at the Summer Hills Food Mart located in the 24200 block of Sorters Road, in Porter, Texas.

It was discovered that a complainant had stopped at the location to pick up several bags of ice for a trip. After the complainant had purchased the ice, proceeded to his vehicle, and was putting the ice in an ice chest, a male, accompanied by another male, quickly approached the complainant and struck him on his head/jaw. The two males then continued to assault the complainant in what was described as a robbery attempt. The complainant’s wife, who was in the truck, hearing what was occurring, proceeded toward the suspects with a handgun. After a confrontation, the complainant’s wife and the complainant did discharge their weapons at the suspects and the suspect vehicle. Units from several agencies attempted to locate the suspects and suspect vehicle with no success.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators, representatives from the Texas Rangers, and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office arrived at the location to investigate. The investigation is on-going.

On December 12, 2016, representatives from the Houston Police Department have recovered a suspect vehicle believed to be utilized in the above listed robbery attempt. The vehicle was reported as stolen in the City of Houston a day prior to the robbery attempt. After a continued investigation, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives now believe a third male suspect was inside the suspect vehicle during the above listed assault. Detectives have also been able to recover still photos of three persons of interest in the case.

As a result of the continued investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Texas Rangers, in reference to the below listed robbery that occurred on December 10, 2016, an arrest has been made. On Friday December 16, 2016, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives and representatives with the Texas Rangers arrested a juvenile male and charged him with aggravated robbery in connection to the below listed attempted robbery. Additionally, warrants for two additional suspects have been issued for the same attempted robbery.

Aggravated robbery warrants have been issued for Michael “Mike” Gene Jones, 17 year old male, (date of birth 08/21/1999), and Israel Treqwaun Hunter, 19 year old male, (date of birth 02/28/1997), in reference to the below listed robbery that occurred on December 10, 2016.
