MCTXSheriff Arrest Male for Disorderly Conduct
On Thursday, September 5, 2019, at 5:24 pm, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting three young males walking toward the Wal-Mart located at 20310 US Highway 59, New Caney Texas with one of the males reportedly carrying what appeared to be an AR-style rifle on his back.
While en route to the Wal-Mart, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received additional 911 calls advising that a white male wearing camo pants had a rifle on his back. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the male who was wearing a tactical thigh holster which appeared to be a pistol and a rifle on his back. The male was identified as Matthew Woodrow an 18-year-old white male from New Caney.
During the investigation, the male stated he brought his airsoft rifle (a simulated AR-style rifle with no orange tip markings indicating it was not a real firearm) and his BB pistol to the Wal-Mart as he was trying to get people’s reactions to him walking around the store and parking lot while carrying a rifle and a handgun.
The conduct of the male in conjunction with the recent mass shootings, specifically at locations such as this, caused alarm to the citizens shopping at that time and resulted in several persons fleeing the store. As a result of the investigation along with consultation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Woodrow was arrested for Class C Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Montgomery County Jail where he was booked and medically screened.

(a) (2) makes an offensive gesture or display in a public place, and the gesture or display tends to incite an immediate breach of the peace;
