MCTXSheriff Henderson and Jail Staff Receive Honors from VFW Post 4709

On April 24, 2017, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Montgomery County Post 4709 honored numerous community members for their dedication to celebrating U.S. Veterans. During this ceremony, VFW Post 4709 honored members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with the Certificates of Appreciation for their dedication to the Veterans’ Pod and Veterans’ services within the Montgomery County Jail. As the former jail administrator for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Rand Henderson saw a large incarceration rate of armed service veterans. One of his first acts as Sheriff in January 2017 was to form and implement the veterans program at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Veteran inmates who meet the qualifications to join the Veterans’ Pod have the unique opportunity to honor their past service while building a more solid foundation for their future when they are released from jail. The hope for this program is to lower recidivism rates for those who participate.

Sheriff Rand Henderson, Captain Andy Eason, Lieutenant Felicia Webb, Detention Sergeant Kimberly Anderson, Detention Officer Jason Turner and Detention Officer Ricardo Uresti were among the recipients recognized for their service to Veterans.
