MCTXSheriff Investigating Shooting in Montgomery that Leaves One Dead

On November 11, 2018 at about 12:36 AM,Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a homeowner stating he shot someone on his property located in the 28000 Block of Denn Court Montgomery, Texas. The homeowner also advised that he believes the suspect is deceased. Deputies arrived at the residence on Denn Court, and found the homeowner and deceased male identified as, Nicholas Daniel W/M. Deputies learned that earlier that evening the homeowner and Daniel were at a party together at another residence. The homeowner stated Daniel allegedly came to his residence to confront him regarding an issue involving text messages being sent. Prior to this incident, the homeowner stated he was contacted by cell phone from a third party advising that Daniel was on the way to his residence and he needed to lock his doors. The homeowner stated he felt threatened and was outside when he heard Daniel’s truck approaching his residence. The homeowner went to the rear of his residence. The homeowner stated he observed Daniel open the front door of the residence looking for him. The homeowner stated that he came from behind his residence where he was confronted by Daniel and a physical altercation occurred. During the physical altercation the homeowner shot Daniel several times with a handgun that he had concealed.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crime Detectives, along with Crime Scene Investigators and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office arrived at the residence to continue the investigation. Detectives learned during the investigation that Nicholas Daniel was employed with The Woodlands Fire Department and therefore department officials were notified.

This case is still being investigated and will be presented to the Grand Jury for charges.
