Deputies Arrest Burglary of a Residence Suspect

On Sunday August 5, 2018, at about 10:04 am, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 21500 block of Sullivan Forest Dr, Porter, Texas in reference to a burglary of a residence in progress. The homeowner called law enforcement and advised he was viewing his home cameras from another location and saw someone inside his home taking items. When Deputies arrived they found a man mowing the grass in the front yard, but found a pair of boots by the front door. The man mowing the yard was wearing boots. Believing there was another individuals, Deputies searched the area and found James Wortman (W/M) DOB 5-3-83, hiding in the back yard with only socks on his feet. During the investigation, Deputies discovered that Mr. Wortman was hired to mow the property with the man in the front yard, however Mr. Wortman forced his way in the front door leaving his boots at the front door while he burglarized the residence. When Deputies arrived, Mr. Wortman fled out of the back door and attempted to hide.

During a search of Mr. Wortman Deputies found he had property from inside the residence in his pockets as well as methamphetamine. Mr. Wortman was arrested for burglary of a habitation, possession of a controlled substance and a warrant from Texas Pardons and Parole.
